The Davenport was originally built in 1910. It was one of the most elegant hotels in the West. In the 1950's, after Mr. Davenport passed away, it fell into ill-repair. It was set for demolition, and then it was sold. The new owners spent over 37 million dollars to refurbished it. It is so gorgeous! It made me see how the "other half" might have lived. They still rent out the ballrooms for Proms, which they have been doing for 100 years. How fun would that be???
