Oh my heck.....I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Going to Yellowstone has been in my top 3 places to see for so long! We barely get through the gate and literally within ten minutes, we see all these buffalo! Or are the called bison? With it being so early into the spring, we were lucky to be able to see many babies.
This is called taking a dust bath. The travel books I read said that we might be lucky to see one. And right off the bat, we did.
Watch this short video of a big one walking in the road. He was so close that Larry thought he could reach out his window and touch him. I am glad that he didn't try. But the buffalo did look Larry in the eye as we finally slowly went passed him and Larry thought he might have been thinking, "Hey, are you going to get out of my way?" What is that.....cool, scary, or a little creepy?
Awww......look at the baby nursing!
Larry taking a "selfie".
Working on their suntan??
Then we went to see Old Faithful. We weren't sure when it was suppose to go off, should have checked with a ranger, as we waited about an hour. But it was worth the wait!!! And we had great seats since we got there so early.
waiting.......waiting.....and waiting some more......
We made a quick stop at another geyser. It was getting late, so we just took a couple of photo's and will have to go back to see the rest. This is at the midway geyser. I just loved seeing the steam coming up in big places and also in some random places as we drove around the park.
While I got into the truck from taking the photos of the waterfall, Josh says, "What's that up there?" It was a mountain goat. How do they not fall off those dangerous, high cliffs?
We stopped at this beautiful grove of Aspen trees. This is an amazing shot that Josh took and it is his favorite picture from our whole trip. Pretty good isn't it??
Here are some elk eating grass right in front of the Mammoth Springs hotel. One of the little ones sure had a LOT of energy!!! Watch the video to see. Larry really had a good laugh watching him.
